3 Martini Jeannie (3MJ) is a band featuring three dynamic personalities – musicians who love to entertain. Jeannie Tanner sings, plays piano/keys, trumpet and percussion; and Stacy McMichael lays down bass lines that compliment perfectly the feel-good rhythms of drummer Derek Henderson. The energy they bring to every performance is infectious. They’re fun to watch – or you can dance to their incredible grooves and interesting arrangements of music in every genre including pop, R&B, jazz, blues, Latin jazz and standards from the Great American Songbook.

What songs do they play? 3MJ performs an eclectic mix of music by many artists including Alicia Keys, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Aretha Franklin, Lizzo, Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, Carole King, Annie Lennox, Camila Cabello, Pink, Queen, Norah Jones, Elton John and more, as well as funk-based originals by the leader of 3MJ, 8x Grammy-considered artist/singer-songwriter, Jeannie Tanner.

3MJ has headlined at City Winery, Northalsted Market Days (Backlot Bash) and Roscoe Village’s PorchFest; and they perform weekly at several venues in downtown Chicago. They are perfect for private parties, corporate events, birthday bashes or any special occasion.

3 Martini Jeannie can also add “more shots” to the group: guitar, 2nd keyboard/vocalist, another horn player (sax) or more percussion if an event needs a larger group.

How long have they played together? 3 Martini Jeannie came together as a band during the pandemic. Every Friday at 5pm, Jeannie celebrated the close of each stressful week with live music on Facebook and Youtube, performing audience requests and sharing martini recipes. She was joined by longtime musical collaborators Stacy McMichael (bass) and Derek Henderson (drums). They performed over 75 live-streams together from March of 2020-July 2021, and have worked as a group – the Jeannie Tanner Trio – for the past 7 years.
